…”does my iPhone automaticly do the daylight savings thing?” Please, please, please tell me it does. It would save me a rather restless night of constantly checking my phone against my watch (and dreaming of getting it wrong!)

ermm… you could just make sure all your other clocks are changed and then check your iphone in the morning?
ermm…not if your phone is your only alarm which is the case with the majority of the 1st world in the 2st Century.
