Hallelujah, What a Saviour!

22 Jan

While I’m on the subject of awesome song lyrics I thought I’d share the next song I’m going to be playing to death. If you know of any good versions the let me know. The song is soaked in Scriptural truth and really moves the soul. What else could you want from a worship song? Anyway, here are the lyrics:

Man of Sorrows! what a name
For the Son of God, who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
In my place condemned He stood;
Sealed my pardon with His blood.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Guilty, vile, and helpless we;
Spotless Lamb of God was He;
“Full atonement!” can it be?
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Lifted up was He to die;
“It is finished!” was His cry;
Now in Heav’n exalted high.
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

When He comes, our glorious King,
All His ransomed home to bring,
Then anew His song we’ll sing:
Hallelujah! What a Savior!

And there it is 🙂

    Somewhere on the Sov Grace Website are two versions of it. One from the Bob Kauflin Hymns project I think, and another is a free song from the NA album (i think)

    Cheers Lazza. I know we used one sovereign grace version on CD in Church before…it was pretty cheese tastic. But if NA have done a version I may have to try and dig it out.

    Anyone else?

    I’d love to hear it…although a little apprehensive that if I didn’t like it I’d have to publicly state it here on saintbeagle!

    Off in search I go

    […] two (in my opinion) great hymns to my church. Namely ‘Nothing but the Blood‘ and ‘Man of Sorrows’. Both of which I kinda rejigged a little (linguistically and musically) in an effort to let the […]
