Just a Thought

6 Apr

It doesn’t benefit us one bit to think of Jesus as less than He really is.

It’s impossible to think of Jesus as more than He really is.

So why don’t we spend more time increasing our view of Him? Just a thought.

I was reading Acts 17 with my team leader today and I think you could go further with your first sentence – thinking of Jesus as less than he is, is something from which we should all repent.

I wonder if increasing our view of him is possible in and of itself – or is it just (pph! just!) a matter of prayerfully gazing at him as God presents him to us in the word and in the sacraments so that the Spirit can open our eyes more and more to his glory?

I guess lots of people might have read this post (I probably did a bit) and thought “well, duh, what made you think that was a blogworthy thought?” (not that I’ve ever blogged anything blogworthy). But that’s silly. It is pretty simple – but so easy to forget. Thanks for serving us by posting this thought! πŸ™‚

“well duh!?” sums it up well. But your point is correct, just because it’s obvious doesn’t mean we do it!
